After some small-chat, she commented that being multiracial has the advantage of people not knowing what you are right off the bat, and it might be especially advantageous in international relations. <br/>Work was slow and my coworker invited me to an &#8220;Internet Cat Fest&#8221; in Oakland. How can you say no to that?<br/>Waiting for the bus home I ran into the grocery store across the street, and got to play with their resident cat, which usually only appears near closing time. <br/>Cafe International must have had their open-mic night, because a group of musicians were standing outside of the cafe playing for passerby&#8217;s and had attracted a small crowd. When the bus came one of them jumped into the bus and sang the rest of Ben E. King&#8217;s &#8220;Stand By Me&#8221;. For once, rather than ignore the disturbance, most of the bus sang along with him, and clapped as he exited.<br/>One of the passengers had a tray of assorted cookies, and a man (who had been drinking from a flask throughout the ride, and looked more than a little drunk) asked to buy one. He gave the man a dollar, and the man gave him two big sugar cookies. The drunk guy was stoked, &#8220;Woulda&#8217; paid you two for two, damn good cookies&#8230;&#8221;<br/>Then, finally home at midnight, I collapsed into bed to realize that my blankets still smelled like my lover&#8217;s cologne&#8230;<br/>Good day.
